Dignity is about more than one day and should be upheld at all times but Dignity Action Day gives people a more focused opportunity to promote it to others, demonstrate how they uphold dignity so others can share ideas and also give people in care an extra special day.
Tony Hussain (Director) visited Mr O’Callaghan and spent the morning with him and Assa (CareGiver), having a great opportunity to catch up, spend quality time and drink coffee. Manisha Fazel (Care Manager) spent time with Nerinder Sehra for the afternoon. Dignity Action Day aimed to ensure people in care are treated as individuals, are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives and provide stimulating activities.
"It might well be that the difference people make individually is a mere ripple on the surface of our care system, but each of those ripples added together create a wave, a social movement, and if this makes life better for some - then it has to be worthwhile."
