A chance meeting and a conversation with a fellow cabin crew member in March last year, set Richard Aram from Scarrington on a new career course. Richard was considering his future when he met Nick Brown who was also considering his, Nick told him about a company he was looking at called Home Instead Senior Care which looked after older people in their own homes. Nick explained about the work they do and that it was a business where you really can make a difference to older people by helping them to stay in their own homes for as long as possible.
Something connected with Richard, who had recently experienced the difficult situation of having older relatives requiring care services to help them to retain their independence and felt that Home Instead would have been perfect for his grandparents. He was also really keen to be more involved in his local community, so he contacted the company and found out that there was an opportunity to open the East Nottingham & Melton Mowbray office – the rest they say is history!
The new office offers at-home care to elderly clients living across the area providing a flexible and personal alternative to nursing home care. They will also be looking to create 40 new jobs covering Southwell, Newark, Radcliffe on Trent and Melton Mowbray.
For owner Richard, 48, who is supported by his wife Jo, this is an exciting new venture. He had worked for an international airline since 1997 and had always been committed to working within a team and delivering service to the highest of standards.
On discovering Home Instead, he knew it was the right company for him. He commented, “Home Instead’s ethos matches my passion for delivering a high-quality service and on finding out more about the company it all made sense to me. In my previous career you had to deal with people and situations, often on the spur of the moment in a caring and calming way, skills which with all come in very useful.”

We offer full training so experience is not necessary but candidates must be caring, compassionate and keen to learn!”
Richard is married to Jo and they have 3 year old twins, a boy and a girl.
