Jeanette McEwan and her son Tom spent the first Friday of the New Year cycling 32 miles to raise money for Forward Day Centre Ltd; a local organization that provides support for adults with learning difficulties.

Jeannette and Tom McEwan have been helping people in the local area for some time in their capacity as owner andCSRofficer of local company, Home Instead Senior Care. Home Instead is a provider of at-home care for those who need a little extra help living independently and therefore the team feel passionately about looking after more vulnerable members of the community. After learning about the local day centre, and the work it does for adults with learning difficulties, the duo decided to take action and raise funds for this deserving cause.

Tom comments: “We planned and completed a 32 mile bike ride, from Hunstanton to Long Sutton with a quick stop outside the day centre for a photo and some moral support. Although it was a very tough ride, we both made it eventually and so far have raised around £200 between us for this fantastic cause.”

Forward Day Centre is dedicated to helping members to gain confidence and realise their potential. Whether this involves planting an herb garden, learning to plan and cook meals or even finding paid employment; the centre is committed to helping all of its members with their own personal development.  Steve Fuller, general manager at the day centre comments, “I met Tom in his capacity asCSRofficer for Home Instead, when he came around the centre to find out more about the work we were doing here. I am thrilled that Tom and Jeanette decided to organise this event to raise funds for us and the amount they have raised is a fantastic contribution and will make a big difference to our members.”
