Downton Abbey actress, Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the TV drama, joined the Mayor of Budleigh, Dick Mitchell, to officiate at the opening of Home Instead Senior Care in Budleigh Salterton yesterday (December 1st).
The Exeter and East Devon office of Home Instead Senior Care is owned and run by local couple, Mark and Vanessa McGlade and Miss Dockery is a close family member. She was pleased to lend her support to them on their ‘official opening’ day.
The McGlades launched their business, which provides quality, non-medical care services for older people, in July this year.
As well as the actress, the opening event was attended by many of Home Instead’s team of enthusiastic caregivers. They were joined by guests from the local community including town and county councillors, healthcare professionals, local solicitors, the CEO of Age Concern Exmouth, Steve Dace and local vicar, The Reverend Anne Charlton.
Commenting on the day, Miss Dockery said, "I'm very proud to be here today to support Home Instead Senior Care. My mum has worked in services for the elderly for 23 years so this is something that is close to my heart."
Mark and Vanessa work tirelessly to ensure that the service they deliver is highly personalised, commenting Mark said, “The service we provide looks after the individual’s physical as well as emotional needs, providing companionship, interaction and stimulation and this is exactly what our elderly community needs. Our care is tailored to the needs of each individual and we can make a real difference to the quality of life of not only our clients, but their families too.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Michelle to our business today and Vanessa and I are delighted that so many of our caregivers, clients and local contacts from the community joined us to celebrate the work we are doing.”
