East Thirsk Community Association was joined by Home Instead Senior Care, the Royal British Legion Band, Northallerton & District Round Table and Johnson’s of Thirsk Butchers to hold their annual Christmas dinner at the weekend, where they treated the older residents of East Thirsk to a complimentary scrumptious Christmas dinner of roast turkey and all the trimmings.
When the guests arrived at East Thirsk Community Hall, they were greeted to a glass of wine or sherry followed by a seasonal roast dinner and mince pies. To top it all off the Royal British Legion played Christmas songs and everyone enjoyed a jolly sing along.
Cynthia Hesmondhalgh, Chair of the East Thirsk Community Association commented on the success of the event: ‘We would like to thank the Northallerton & District Round Table who kindly donated £200 to the event and also helped out on the day, Home Instead Senior Care for their kind donation of wine and sherry, Johnsons of Thirsk for cooking such a lovely meal, the Royal British Legion Band for playing and of course to all those who gave up their weekend to help out on the day’.
