At-home care company Home Instead Senior Care in Cardiff teamed up with volunteers from Penarth Live at Home Scheme to hold a Winter Warmer event on Friday 18th November.
The event raised just under £100 for the Penarth Live at Home scheme, welcoming around 30 older people from the area to enjoy free tea and cakes as well as the option of a hot lunch for just £3.
Linda Brownhill, Manager of the Live at home scheme welcomed the initiative that saw her organisation and Home Instead working together.
"I would fully advocate Home Instead. It's an excellent company, so now and again we come together to do these sort of things" she said.
Home Instead Cardiff owner Phil Batchelor donated cakes and refreshments for the event. He comments: “A fantastic afternoon was had by all. It was great to raise money for the Penarth Live at Home Scheme as it is a fantastic cause that encourages people to get together for social gatherings who might otherwise not have the confidence to get out as much as they used to.”
Phil continues: “With the help of services like those we provide at Home Instead and the Live at Home Scheme, older people are able to live independently in their own homes for longer. We hope that by organising events like this, we can also allow help people to maintain a healthy social life as it provides an opportunity for friendships, fun and fellowship – as well as a cup of tea and a slice of cake!”
