Coronation Day in 1953
We spent a most enjoyable afternoon with the residents of Gordon Court reminiscing over old photos of Edinburgh, and of film stars from the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s.
Happy memories came flooding back … Coronation Day in 1953, trips to Portobello beach, shopping at Goldbergs, catching a ride on the Corporation buses and trams, listening to ‘The Crew Cuts’ at the Empire Theatre, even playing truant from school. But perhaps pride of place was reserved for Sophia Lauren, whose photo brought a sparkle to the eye of at least one gentleman!
We shared companionship, fun and laughter; all over a cup of tea and a biscuit. What a great way to spend an afternoon!
