Sarah Gell has joined the Nottingham team of at-home care company, Home Instead Senior Care, in the role of Community Liaison Manager. Sarah, who has an impressive 24 years experience working in nursing and care, is full of enthusiasm for her new role which will see her working with the local community. She will be helping advice on issues and services available to the elderly across Nottingham and surrounding areas.

Home Instead provide a unique service which is tailored to the needs of individual clients and includes  companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, medication reminders, shopping and errands.

Commenting on her role, Sarah said “I have an affinity with older people after being so close to my grandma. Home Instead has the ideal approach to providing care for older people in their own homes, they are different to so many other organisations I have come across, and I really felt their ethos perfectly matched mine. I am looking forward to being able to develop my role and build good relationships in the area, creating as much awareness of what is available for the elderly.

Sarah continued: I was very lucky to have my Grandma in my life until I was 37, she was 95 when she died and to have known such a fantastic lady was really valuable to me; you can learn so much from older people.  We would go shopping and she spent all her time chatting to people she met, she wrote some great limericks she was so funny and she remained active with the support of her family. She made a huge impression on my children and the younger members of our family. So much so that my 14 yr old niece has created WOW ‘Wonderful outstanding women’ in memory of my grandmother and has so far raised £5,167 for Nottingham City Hospital Breast Cancer unit.

I am so aware that not all older people may have family nearby to help so this is where the services from Home Instead are so valuable. We were lucky and precious people like her should receive the care that they deserve in their older years.”
