Our September Caregivers meeting saw Marion Lawrence from Arthritis Care speaking about her experiences living with arthritis. The first part of Marion’s talk was about the types of arthritis and the treatments involved in dealing with symptoms.
Marion herself has arthritis and she spoke about her experiences in coping with the condition and gave some very useful tips for caregivers when helping people with arthritis.
Surprisingly Marion indicated that there were over 200 types of arthritic conditions affecting all age groups. In very general terms pain, mobility issues, and tiredness are the big challenges facing individuals with arthritis.
After her talk Marion informally met with caregivers to offer advice and provided a range of literature and contact information. Marion also drew the winning tickets for us at our raffle and tombola where £70.00 was raised for Arthritis Care.
We would all like to thank Marion for coming to our meeting and for her practical advice for caregivers. Marion has worked as a volunteer and speaker for Arthritis Care for a number of years as well as organising self help groups for Arthritis sufferers.
