When Tony O’Flaherty, owner of the local Home Instead Senior Care agency, first saw a classic 1962 Rover P4 sitting in barn at a friend’s farm in Sussex little did he know that five years later the gem of a vehicle would come in handy as a tool to help market his new business.
Tony did, however, immediately fall in love with the car, which had 94,000 miles on the clock. Commenting he said: “When I first saw the car it was barely visible under bales of hay, hens were nesting on the back seat and a family of field mice had taken up residence in the glove compartment.”
The car, nicknamed Bunty, is pictured here with a Helen, a local Dulwich resident and has recently received a complete makeover and painted in the Home Instead Senior Care livery.
Speaking about the business, Tony said: “The work we do enables older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible whilst improving their quality of life.
I love pootling through Dulwich Village in the Rover, people seem to enjoy it and it has proved a great talking point. For many of our clients the car brings back memories and has sparked off lots of discussions about how things used to be back in the 60’s.
“It’s one of the great things about the work that we do. We meet so many people from all walks of life and it’s always a pleasure to catch up with them!”
