“You cannot explain the delight that you feel when you enter someone’s house and you see how happy they are to see you,” exclaims Kairen Goves from Home Instead Senior Care. Kairen joined Home Instead over a year ago as a Caregiver and now works full time in the Park Gate offices as an Administrator but still visits her original clients.
Kairen had two clients to start with; one lady aged 97 that she would see three times a week for two hours each visit to predominantly prepare a home-cooked fresh dinner, become a companion and encourage her to mobilise. “We have become firm friends and I love hearing my client’s stories of how she used to live and work and how different it was to bring up children through WWII. This is a fascinating job and I have to pinch myself sometimes to truly believe I am being paid for such a rewarding role!” says Kairen. “Caregivers are matched to their clients and formally introduced before the service commences so you see the same client and likewise our clients enjoy the reassurance that they know who is coming and when that will be in advance.”
