As part of Carers Week 2011, owner of Home Instead in Southampton East, Luisa Castle volunteered her help to Admiral Nurses who took carers and their loved ones from the local area out on a special day trip to Mudeford.
Jeni Bell from Admiral Nurses arranged the trip out as part of Carers Week in an effort to treat them and give them a break from their daily caring role. As this is a cause close to Luisa’s heart due to her work at Home Instead, she was keen to get involved and lend a hand.
The group, made up of social workers, district nurses and dementia champions from across the region were taken out to Mudeford in three separate groups over a three day period. Guests were invited to enjoy the views from the comfort of a hired beach hut as well as tucking in to a cold buffet washed down with Pimms and tea for all attendees.
As Luisa has built a strong relationship with the Admiral team she was thoroughly excited to help out on the day. She commented: “The weather was touch and go in the morning but by the time we got to Mudeford the skies had cleared and the sun shone on a breathtaking view! A wonderful day was had by all and us helpers did our best carrying bit and bobs and serving the guests. The event was a great success and it was wonderful to see these hard working carers relaxing in the sunshine!”
