Caregiver Quarterly Meeting Guest Speaker: Susan Sedek, Reminiscence Therapy

Susan Sedek was our guest speaker at our quarterly caregiver meeting (pictured here with Dale Bevington, Home Instead Barnet owner and Marilyn Everitt-Drew, our Training Officer).

Susan is a researcher working at University College London.  Her talk was about how Reminiscence Therapy can be used by caregivers to help clients with dementia improve and preserve their memories.

It was an exciting and uplifting talk full of lots of practical ideas and suggestions.

All caregivers agreed they came away with a better understanding of ways to enhance our care for clients with memory loss.  Following Susan’s talk we all gathered for some snacks, further discussion, and an extremely useful exchange of caregiver experiences.Home Instead cares for a large number of clients with Alzheimers and other forms of dementia.

Caregivers who look after clients with these conditions will have completed our Advanced Alzheimers training program. Talks like this are a welcome supplement to this training and part of our career development for all caregivers.
