Liverpool Flashmob a Raving Success!

Home Instead Senior Care Liverpool Central & North had a fantastic turnout and reception for the worlds’ first  Over 55’s Flashmob. Over 200 people participated in our Raving Pensioner Flashmob which brought Liverpool One shopping centre to a standstill on Bank Holiday Monday.

Word had got out that there was an imminent happening and quite a crowd had gathered outside and on the balconies above South John Street. Just after 3 pm the vocal  introduction boomed out of the PA ‘Brothers & Sisters I wanna  see ya hands in the air’ as the music began a swell of clients, caregivers and other ‘up for it’ senior ravers rushed to the dance area and threw their hands in the air.

The song is one written by our very own Kayte back in the early 90’s and still an anthem in clubland today, so the shocked onlookers stood open mouthed at the sight of our 200 strong crowd of ‘aged to perfection’ over 55’s ‘giving it loads’.

The message of the day – to shatter the stereotypical image of the older age groups and to show that fun and zest for life is not reserved for the young generation.

As the song built and the intensity increased, whistles blew and cheering rose through the crowd until a rapturous finale and a huge roar from the assembled ‘Flashmob’ along with the younger people who had decided to join in the fun.

So Much Fun was had by all that it took half an hour to disperse the crowd, by the time we had spoken to Radio Merseyside and Sky News it was nearly 4 pm and it was time to say our farewells to the remaining stragglers and complete our plans for maximising the You Tube hits we expect to gather for the finished clip.

Watch this space as we shall be posting it here as a world exclusive later this week. Thanks again to all participants and to Liverpool One for a great and memorable day.
