Home Instead’s Cardiff team braved sub-zero temperatures in December to deliver care to clients. Many of our team had to leave their cars stuck on snow laden drive ways and walk to their clients’ homes. This inspired Caregiver, Elizabeth Van Der Walt to put pen to paper with her poem “Going The Extra Mile”:
Up like a lark
It is still dark
Ready to depart
Never say never whatever the weather
Crisp crunch, crisp crunch
I have a hunch
Down the hill, through the lane
Up the brow, past The Crown
Round the corner and over the river
Crisp crunch, crisp crunch
Will I miss my lunch?
Face a tingling
Muscles stinging
Up those steps and into the depths
What have I found?
I’ve saved three pounds
Crisp crunch, crisp crunch
I can have my lunch!
Never say never, whatever the weather
Just lift your feet and walk
...Doing the Danescourt walk
Face beaming
Muscles screaming
Crisp crunch, crisp crunch
