Local Tytherington lady and ex- mayor of Bollington, Joy Tunstall, has joined the Macclesfield team of at-home care provider, Home Instead Senior Care, in the role of caregiver.
Joy, who has 20 years experience in the care industry formally working for Macclesfield social services, retired six years ago and is full of enthusiasm for her new role that will see her delivering care to the elderly in the local area.

Commenting, Joy said “I was first drawn to Home Instead Senior Care after reading an article in the Daily Express. I liked the sound of how they delivered care to their clients, treating each client as an individual and providing care that suited them. I was delighted to find out that there was no age barrier to become a caregiver.
“I love the fact that my time is not limited with my clients and that I can offer companionship as well as care. A main highlight for me is seeing a client’s face light up when you visit, they look forward to your company and being able to make a difference to someone’s day is a real privilege.”
One of Joy’s clients suffers with dementia so Joy likes to spend her time with her doing something that will stimulate her mind. She loves birds so Joy takes bird books with her on her visits to read together as well as food to feed the birds in the garden.
When Joy isn’t busy caring for others she is involved in a number of charitable organisations including Bollington & Macclesfield NSPCC, Bollington Senior Citizens committee, The Oliver Trust and Access for the Disabled.
It is hard to believe Joy has any time to herself but when she does she loves to spend time with her family, in particular her grandchildren, one of whom is currently on tour playing the lead role in the musical Annie.
