Innovative Training for Caregivers

There is great importance in developing the way Alzheimer's sufferers are cared for and this is the main focus for Carly Thomas, who works as the Care Coordinator at the Bournemouth office of Home Instead.

A key aspect of the Home Instead service is caring for people who suffer with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.  Enthusiastic to ensure Home Instead is always at the forefront of new caring methods, Carly completed the 'Advanced Train the Trainer' Alzheimer's and Dementia course and will be implemeting a new innovative Alzheimer's Caregiving Training programme for the team to help with the increasing number of people suffering with dementia.

Commenting Carly said "Most training courses will only cover awareness of Alzheimer's and dementia, informing you of what will happen and the decline that people will suffer. This new programme is much more positive and extends the training from just awareness to hands on knowledge which can have such a positvie impact.  We can't change how people will decline but we can change how they live the rest of their lives with the condition."
