Home Instead Senior Care Ascot, Camberley and Wokingham were delighted to talk to the Concord branch of the Oddfellows in Farnborough this week. We met the District Officers for the whole Reading group, which includes Ascot, Wokingham and Camberley, and enjoyed a lively discussion about the work we do at Home Instead and also the work the Oddfellows do themselves.
The Oddfellows is one of the largest Friendly Societies in the UK and has been in existence for over 200 years. They have over 200,000 members and 197 branches nationwide and are based in Manchester. They provide a range of benefit services to their members which includes “Care & Welfare” services.
During 2011, Home Instead nationally implemented a “pilot” process, successfully providing Home Instead services for Oddfellows members around the country. These were people in need of a service other than the convalescence care Oddfellows normally provide.
The group were particularly interested in the companionship aspect of our work and we discussed how Home Instead Senior Care tailor our home care service to the needs of individual clients: we can take people shopping, help with appointments and housework, prepare meals and help with laundry. Our discussion also included some of our other services, such as personal care and specialist dementia care.
By introducing Home Instead Senior Care to the local Oddfellows groups, I hope we will be able to help more local people to stay safe and independent at home.
