Home Instead Peterborough is today proud to announce a sponsored cycle ride in aid of newly launched Market Deeping based lunch club for older people.

Having seen the positive impact lunch clubs can have for older people and housebound people in the area, Home Instead wanted to get involved where they could. Phil takes up the story: “The newly launched Saturday Soup & Social in Market Deeping is a great initiative and when we heard about it we knew straight away we would like to be involved. We have decided to undertake a sponsored cycle from the most Western part of the area we cover, Barnwell near Oundle, up to the Northern most part of Market Deeping. The goal of the cycle ride is to try raise sufficient funds to go towards a couple of soup kettles, which will be of great value to the ‘Soup & Social’ club.

Owners, Phil and Amy will be undertaking the sponsored cycle ride on the evening of Thursday the 14th of June, starting at Barnwell Village Hall, ending at The Green School, Church Street, Market Deeping. The ‘Soup & Social was launched back in April and the first event proved very popular in encouraging older people in the area to get out of the house and a chance to socialise with fellow members of the community. Julie, one of the organisers of the event, hopes the lunch club will grow in popularity and we have offered to try and encourage our own clients in the area to attend where possible.

The route will cover 23 miles spanning across three counties. We will be donned in our purple Home Instead polo shirts so if you see us on the 14th, then please pap your horn in support!
