April saw the launch of Walking for Health in Budleigh Salterton, with the support of the local Medical Centre and willinglocal volunteers, the group will enjoy weekly walks in and around the Budleigh area. Walking for Health's activites are aimed at those residents who's health would benefit from an increase in physical exercise and easy cameraderie. Our intrepid Director, Mark, is one of the weekly Leaders and will be organising many of the local walks along with other members of the friendly team. Together they have undertaken several sessions of training in first aid, route planning etc and are mindful to vary pace and length of each walk to suit all levels of fitness and health. Not only is the physical exercise invaluable but the mental stimulation and social interaction nurtures and stimulates the whole person.
Mark and Vanessa believe it is the all round physical, mental and emotional support of a person which is vital to their well being and this is what makes Home Instead's care such a different experience, we truely support our Clients on all levels.
It has been calculated that for every £1.00 spent on Walking for Health, £7.00 is saved from the NHS budget, what an amazing statistic and what better encouragement does one need to go out and explore the beautiful area in which we live.
