Home Instead Senior Care in Altrincham has successfully completed its first in a series of ‘Connecting with Care’ community forums. The events welcome members of the local community who provide any kind of service to senior people, to come along and learn more about senior care issues.
The recent ‘Connecting with Care’ forum that took place at The Cinnamon Club in Bowdon, was well attended by individuals from a range of sectors as well as speakers from The Alzheimer’s Society, Trafford Carers Centre and the Vibrant Voice Choir. Clare Morel, one of the organisers of the Vibrant Voice Choir, led attendees in a rousing sing-along to ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ to raise awareness of the powerful role music can play in combating dementia.
Cath Wright from the Trafford Housing Trust commented: “I am so glad I came along to this event and I shall definitely be coming to future forums. It is such an excellent idea to get as many providers of services together from so many different backgrounds and I have found it extremely informative and very interesting.”
Home Instead owners Alan Savage and Lucy Gill commented, “Professionals from so many different sectors come into contact with the older generation, it is important for the community to share knowledge and resources when it comes to issues that may be affecting this age group. We have now run events in Sale, Timperley and Bowdon and are thrilled that our attendees have enjoyed the events so much. Now we can’t wait for the next one!”
The next Connecting with Care Forum will run from 6.00 – 7.30pm on 21st June at St Mary Magdalene church, Moss Lane, Ashton on Mersey, M33 6GD and is free to attend. Speakers include the Parkinson’s Society, Age UK & Reverend Gerry Foster. To reserve a seat or to find out more about the event, please contact Home Instead on: 0161 870 1136.
